Frequently Asked Questions

What determines the Ethereum price?
Ether (ETH) is priced by open trading on global exchanges, driven by demand for the Ethereum network itself — decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and smart contract activity — alongside broader crypto market sentiment, macro liquidity, and regulatory developments.
What is the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum?
Bitcoin was designed primarily as a decentralized store of value and payment network. Ethereum is a programmable blockchain that supports smart contracts, letting developers build decentralized applications (DeFi, NFTs, tokens) on top of it. ETH is used to pay transaction ('gas') fees on the network, not just as a currency.
Does staking Ethereum earn a return?
Since Ethereum moved to proof-of-stake, ETH holders can stake their coins to help secure the network and earn a yield, typically in the low single-digit percentage range annually, paid in ETH. Staking involves lock-up periods and smart-contract risk, so returns are not guaranteed and principal can still lose value if ETH's price falls.
Why does Ethereum's price move differently from Bitcoin's?
While ETH and BTC are correlated most of the time, Ethereum's price also responds to network-specific catalysts — protocol upgrades, gas fee trends, DeFi total value locked, and NFT market activity — that don't directly affect Bitcoin, so the two can diverge during network-specific news cycles.
Is Ethereum a good investment?
Ethereum carries the same high-volatility, no-guaranteed-return profile as other cryptocurrencies, with added smart-contract and protocol-upgrade risk. Its value depends on continued demand for the network's applications. As with any crypto asset, consider it a high-risk allocation and never invest more than you can afford to lose. This is not financial advice.
