Making charges are negotiable here as elsewhere in the Gulf, and the souq's mix of tourist and resident shoppers keeps competition — and bargaining — active. Fixed-price retail alternatives are increasingly available in Muscat's malls (Oman Avenues Mall, City Centre Muscat, Panorama Mall) for buyers who prefer certified pricing over souq negotiation.
